Hey, Joker

Jokes–

cushions the heart

from pains strong blows

evidence ‘nough

the coward knows

to covert pains

painful truths, hide

the inner one–

hidden, guarded

and masked with fun.

To hide the truth,

feelings, all ills

‘Neath laughter’s creep

pretend you are

always happy,

always funny…

they will not see,

the grim and grime…

Melancholic?

Oh no, you’re not

Joker, you are.
